Meet the educators behind Global Teacher and the network that supports professional learning overseas.
Global Teacher programs are supported by educators who understand both the excitement and responsibility that come with professional learning overseas. Team Leaders help participants prepare, support the group during the program and work alongside in-country partners.
Meet some of the educators who have contributed to Global Teacher. Team Leader assignments vary by departure; these profiles do not confirm future appointments.

Founder & Director
Mike is an educator and the Founder of Global Teacher. Before establishing Global Teacher, he worked in teacher training programs across Asia and the South Pacific. His educational work has taken him across Australia, Europe, Asia, North America and the Pacific. Global Teacher grew from his belief that travel, professional learning and genuine educator-to-educator exchange can strengthen teaching practice and create lasting connections.
Team Leader
Jodie is a high school Health and Physical Education teacher with a strong interest in careers counselling and supporting student pathways. An experienced traveller who has visited almost 60 countries, she has also worked at summer camps in the USA and taught while living in London. Jodie first joined Global Teacher in Vanuatu before travelling to Colombia and later leading the Nepal program.
Team Leader
Clare is a primary school teacher with more than 25 years in education and experience leading practice in Teaching English as an Additional Language or Dialect. She has travelled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and Australia and has a particularly strong connection to the Philippines through her family and many visits to the country.
Team Leader
Rianna is a primary educator with experience in rural Australian schools and international education. Her background includes study at Michigan State University, recognition early in her teaching career and international tour leadership across Europe. She first travelled with Global Teacher to Indonesia in 2024, participating in local school engagement and professional development before returning as a Team Leader.
Team Leader
Karen is a primary teacher on the Gold Coast and one of Global Teacher's longest-standing participants, having joined the original Lovina program in 2022. Since then she has travelled on multiple Global Teacher programs as both a participant and Team Leader, including Thailand, Nusa Lembongan, Lovina and Bali Green.
Team Leaders
Ilana and Sheridan are experienced primary educators who have co-led the Vanuatu program together multiple times. Ilana is a K–6 teacher from Sydney and has led Global Teacher programs in Vanuatu, Bali and Thailand. Sheridan lived in Vanuatu as a child, has taught in Hong Kong and Sydney, and brings experience across Kindergarten to Year 5 and school leadership. Together, they bring extensive Global Teacher experience and a strong connection to Vanuatu.
Team Leader
Anushka is a primary school teacher with 14 years of experience in education, including 12 years specialising in special education. She has been a certified Highly Accomplished Teacher for nine years and has extensive experience mentoring and supporting both new and experienced teachers across Australia. Having lived in Fiji, Vanuatu, New Zealand and Australia, she brings a genuine appreciation for different cultures and communities, and is passionate about inclusive education and building lasting connections with educators and communities around the world.
