These terms apply to future Global Teacher participant bookings where they are provided and accepted as part of the relevant confirmed program offer. They do not retrospectively change an existing booking or agreement. Mandatory consumer rights continue to apply.

These terms apply to Global Teacher’s participant-facing Professional Exchange Programs (PEP) and Professional Learning Programs (PLP). They do not govern separate institutional consulting or capacity-building contracts.

A specific program offer sets out the destination, confirmed dates, program price, accommodation basis, included and excluded services, payment schedule, room-sharing conditions and any specifically disclosed departure terms. Please read the offer alongside these general terms. A separate, agreed departure-specific condition takes precedence on that matter, subject always to applicable law.

An expression of interest (EOI) records your interest in a proposed departure. It does not guarantee a place, a departure, a room match or a supplier booking.

The standard A$100 EOI payment is fully refundable if you withdraw before accepting a confirmed program offer, if Global Teacher does not confirm the departure, or if Global Teacher cancels the proposed departure before you accept a confirmed offer. You may request this refund by contacting Global Teacher in writing.

When Global Teacher has confirmed a program in writing and you accept its written offer or complete an approved booking acceptance process, the EOI payment is credited to your program price. From that acceptance point, the deposit/payment terms and participant cancellation conditions for the confirmed booking apply. If an offer requires a different EOI amount or treatment, this must be clearly disclosed and accepted before any payment.

Programs generally need minimum numbers and workable local arrangements. Confirmation is given in writing; publication of a departure date or collection of an EOI is not confirmation. Avoid making non-refundable independent travel purchases before confirmation.

Unless stated otherwise, prices are in Australian dollars. A twin-share price means the price per person when two people share a room. Private accommodation, optional extensions or additional services may cost extra.

Your confirmed offer identifies the total price, the EOI credit, any additional deposit, payment dates, inclusions, exclusions, room arrangement and applicable cancellation schedule before acceptance. Payments must follow the agreed schedule unless Global Teacher confirms another arrangement in writing. We will communicate about overdue instalments and available options before taking any action under the agreement.

Airfares, travel insurance, visas, optional activities, meals, transfers and personal expenses are not included unless the specific confirmed offer says they are. Some Global Teacher programs include domestic flights, cruises, particular meals or other transport; only the relevant offer determines what is included. Any third-party or payment-processing fee to be charged to you must be disclosed before you agree to pay it.

Please notify Global Teacher of cancellation in writing as early as possible. The number of days is calculated using the scheduled program start date and the date we receive your written cancellation. The following standard cancellation schedule applies after acceptance of a confirmed program offer unless the accepted offer expressly sets out a different schedule:

60 or more days before departure — Our standard starting refund is 50% of the program payments Global Teacher has actually received for your booking. If evidenced, directly attributable supplier charges that cannot reasonably be recovered exceed the 50% of your payments otherwise retained, we may deduct only that excess from the starting refund. Costs are not counted twice.

0–59 days before departure — The standard change-of-mind cancellation position is no contractual refund, reflecting commitments normally made close to departure. We will nonetheless consider supplier recoveries, any replacement booking and the actual circumstances, and refund amounts where required by law or where retaining them would be disproportionate to a legitimate loss.

For both periods, we take reasonable steps to minimise avoidable loss and will not seek to impose an unfair penalty. Any amount retained must be defensible by reference to genuine, reasonably necessary costs and loss; we will explain the calculation on request. Deductions cannot exceed payments actually received unless an additional lawful cancellation liability was specifically disclosed and accepted in the confirmed offer. Payments made directly to airlines or other suppliers are governed by the participant’s arrangements with those suppliers.

These change-of-mind conditions do not affect statutory rights. Illness or other personal inability to travel may be covered by your insurance; please contact us promptly so any available alternatives can be considered.

If a departure does not reach confirmation or Global Teacher cancels it before an accepted confirmed booking, we will refund the EOI and any other program payments collected for that proposed departure.

If Global Teacher decides not to operate a confirmed departure for reasons within its control, we will refund payments made to Global Teacher for services not provided, subject to any greater remedy required by law. We will communicate available alternatives, but you are not required to accept a credit or alternative departure instead of a refund to which you are legally entitled.

Events outside reasonable control—including severe weather, natural disasters, travel restrictions, major transport interruption, host-school closure or supplier cancellation—may affect delivery. Your options, any refund or rescheduling, and the treatment of unrecoverable costs depend on the actual circumstances, agreed terms, supplier rights and applicable law. No automatic blanket forfeiture applies.

Itineraries may need reasonable changes for safety, weather, school or local conditions. We will explain significant changes as soon as practicable and discuss available options. Your statutory rights remain unaffected. Independent airfares, insurance or other costs not purchased from Global Teacher are generally governed by their own supplier contracts, without limiting any rights you may have against Global Teacher under law.

Published twin-share prices are per person, based on two people sharing a room. A participant travelling alone may request a suitable room-share match, but a match is not guaranteed.

Before you accept a confirmed offer, we will tell you any matching deadline, relevant accommodation arrangements, the private-room price if a match is unavailable, and the options—including any departure-specific withdrawal and refund treatment—if no suitable match can be made. We will not impose an undisclosed private-room supplement. A common matching deadline does not create a universal automatic right to a full refund on every departure.

Changes to room configuration or roommate arrangements are subject to the confirmed offer, reasonable participant preferences, supplier conditions and applicable law.

You are responsible for passport validity, visa and entry requirements, vaccinations and personal travel documents. Please seek appropriate professional health or travel advice for your circumstances. Comprehensive travel insurance is compulsory, with appropriate overseas medical, emergency evacuation, cancellation and activity cover. We may request evidence of suitable cover before departure.

You are responsible for following relevant local laws and reasonable safety and travel instructions. We will provide appropriate pre-departure information, but this does not replace your own planning or our obligations under law.

Participants must behave respectfully towards fellow travellers, school communities, students, local partners and Global Teacher personnel; follow reasonable safeguarding, child-protection, conduct and safety requirements; and avoid discrimination, harassment, exploitation or abuse.

We may restrict activities or remove a participant where necessary and proportionate in response to serious misconduct or an immediate safety risk, having regard to the circumstances and applicable law. Any related financial consequences will be assessed under the agreement and law, not through an automatic unrestricted forfeiture.

If an emergency occurs, Global Teacher may assist in obtaining medical or emergency support where reasonably possible. Costs and responsibility depend on the circumstances, insurance, contractual arrangements and law. These terms do not waive liability for matters that cannot legally be excluded.

Accommodation, airlines, transport, schools, guides, excursions and other services may be provided by third parties. Supplier-specific requirements may apply and will be explained where relevant. Global Teacher remains responsible for its own legal obligations and does not exclude consumer guarantees by describing itself as an intermediary.

Changes that materially affect the educational purpose, price, duration or essential inclusions of a confirmed program will be communicated, with available remedies addressed under the confirmed offer and applicable law.

Personal information is handled in accordance with Global Teacher’s applicable Privacy Policy and relevant legal obligations. We may need relevant information to respond to enquiries, prepare travel, administer a program, support participant safety and work with appropriate local suppliers. Sensitive information will be handled through appropriate private channels and safeguards.

Participation does not automatically grant marketing permission to use an identifiable participant’s photograph, video, story or review. Where required, Global Teacher will obtain and record separate consent for promotional use, including relevant limitations and withdrawal arrangements. Refusing optional marketing consent does not by itself prevent program participation. Host-school and student images are subject to applicable safeguarding rules and permissions.

A booking may be transferred to another person only with Global Teacher’s written approval and subject to supplier, safety and eligibility conditions. Please raise any complaint, concern or request for clarification using the contact details published on the Global Teacher website. We will consider it fairly and explain the proposed resolution or next steps.

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, subject to applicable mandatory law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including relevant Australian Consumer Law protections. If a provision is unenforceable, the remainder continues to the extent permitted.
