Website and enquiry privacy information · 2027 programs

This policy describes Global Teacher’s website, enquiries and participant-facing Professional Exchange and Professional Learning Programs. It builds on our separately approved Privacy Policy — University and Participant Data. The university/CSU-specific policy and agreed data-exchange arrangements remain in place and are not replaced by this policy.

Our approach and contact details

Global Teacher respects the privacy of the people who enquire about, participate in and support our programs. We aim to collect and use only the information reasonably needed for a clearly explained purpose, protect it appropriately and respond to questions or concerns.

For privacy enquiries, access or correction requests, or complaints, contact Global Teacher Pty Ltd at info@globalteacher.com.au or +61 426 246 903. You may also write to PO Box 5601, West End QLD 4101, Australia.

Information we may collect

Depending on the enquiry or program, personal information may include your name, contact details, professional role and experience, program preferences, correspondence, travel plans, accommodation needs, emergency contacts, insurance details, and information required by applicable travel, visa or supplier arrangements.

Where reasonably necessary for health, safety, accessibility, dietary support or safeguarding, we may request sensitive information through an appropriate private channel. We explain why it is needed and seek consent where required, unless another lawful basis applies. We do not ask people to send passports, medical records or payment details through the website's general initial enquiry links.

If a participant leaves feedback, a review or an image, the material and any agreed promotional-use permission may also be recorded. Payment or booking information is handled through the arrangements described in the accepted program offer; this website does not accept payments.

How we collect information

We usually receive information from you directly when you contact us, enquire, request information, submit an expression of interest through an approved process, join a program, communicate with our team or provide feedback. Information may also come from an authorised school, university, group coordinator or program supplier where relevant to arrangements you have agreed to.

If you provide another person’s details, please ensure you have appropriate authority to do so. You may contact us without providing unnecessary personal information; some information will be required if you decide to proceed with travel or a program.

Why we collect, use and disclose information

We use relevant information to respond to enquiries, provide accurate program information, assess and administer program participation, deliver educational and travel arrangements, coordinate local providers, arrange reasonable accessibility or safety support, communicate with participants, document professional learning, resolve concerns, maintain records and meet applicable legal or contractual requirements.

We may also use information to improve our services and, where the required choice or permission exists, send program updates and marketing. Program and safety communications are separate from optional marketing. We do not sell personal information to advertisers.

Sharing with schools, suppliers and overseas partners

International programs may require limited personal information to be shared with host schools, in-country educational partners, local program coordinators, accommodation and transport providers, insurers, emergency-assistance organisations, clinicians or authorities, where this is reasonably needed and permitted for the program, safety or law.

We seek to disclose the minimum information appropriate to each recipient and use suitable controls for access and transfer. Information may be disclosed to recipients in the countries where the particular program operates. Destinations represented by current programs include Indonesia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Vanuatu, Thailand, Nepal, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Japan, Türkiye, Egypt, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway; not every program or recipient involves every country. We will clarify the likely overseas recipients and countries relevant to a particular program before disclosure where practicable.

The public website is hosted by Render and distributed through its global content delivery network. Render and its infrastructure providers may process technical request and security information outside Australia. Enquiries sent to our email address are handled through our existing Google Workspace email service. These services are separate from any future booking platform. Contact us for information about the providers relevant to your enquiry.

Website technology, cookies and marketing choices

This is a static information website. It has no enquiry submission form, subscriber collection or embedded checkout. Book Now links open Global Teacher pages on WeTravel, where booking and payment information is handled under the terms and privacy information shown there. Email and telephone links use your own communication application.

The hosting provider may process technical information such as IP address, browser/device details, request logs and security information to deliver and protect the website. This website has no application analytics or advertising trackers. External links, including Google Maps review links and WeTravel booking links, open services with their own privacy practices.

You may choose whether to receive optional marketing communications. If a mailing list is introduced, its signup will use an appropriate opt-in and provide an unsubscribe method. We will not treat participation or a program enquiry as automatic consent to unrelated promotional email.

Photos, videos, testimonials and reviews

Photography, video and professional reflections can help tell the story of Global Teacher’s educational partnerships. Participation does not automatically grant permission for the promotional publication of an identifiable person's image, story or review.

Where required, we seek and record separate consent explaining the intended use and placement, respect relevant restrictions and respond to withdrawal requests consistently with applicable law and the consent given. We take additional care with children, school communities and partners, including any relevant safeguarding and school permissions.

Public third-party reviews may appear on platforms such as Google. Selected excerpts are reproduced on our website only where an appropriate display arrangement and relevant permission support their use. We distinguish selected historical reviews from any current aggregate rating.

Storage, access, retention and data security

We use access controls and reasonable organisational and technical safeguards appropriate to the information and its sensitivity, and restrict access to people who need it for their role. Program-related information may be held in business email, document storage, authorised booking/administrative systems and relevant supplier records, according to actual processes.

We keep information only for as long as reasonably required for program delivery, legal, taxation, insurance, incident, safeguarding and accountability needs, then securely destroy or de-identify information when no longer required. There is no universal retention period for every record category.

We assess and respond to suspected data breaches in line with applicable requirements and relevant program or partner arrangements.

Access, correction and privacy complaints

You can contact us to ask what personal information we hold about you, request access or correction, or raise a privacy concern. We may need to verify your identity and may explain any applicable legal limitation. We will review complaints and respond within a reasonable time, explaining any further steps where necessary.

If a concern cannot be resolved directly, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner provides information about complaint options where its jurisdiction applies. Contact information and complaint guidance are available at https://www.oaic.gov.au/.

Updates and other agreements

We review this policy when our services, information handling, technology or relevant law changes, and at least annually as appropriate. The current version and date will be available on our website once approved for publication.

Specific university-program data-sharing agreements, emergency arrangements and supplier privacy responsibilities may impose additional requirements. Those documents apply to the relevant program and are not replaced by this general website statement.
